I have dug in this little quarry many times and have always been successful. The owner diligently works off the overburden and small golf ball sized geodes can always be found. These small ones are very nice with gemmy quartz interiors. Quite often pockets with larger geodes show up and these can contain blue barite, calcite, pyrite, sphalerite and kaolinite. You have to scrape off some shale to find these bigger geodes and this takes some work. If you have a bunch of kids just give them all a pick and put them to work. There is usually some shade around, and a good day can be spent at this cool little exposure.
The owner of this exposure is very knowledgeable and helpful if you are new to geode digging, so listen to his advice and go dig some geodes.
